Hard questions.
A generous table.
I’m Chris Cahill—a pastor, counselor, author, musician, and fellow traveler. I believe faith deserves both an open mind and an open heart.

A faith worth examining
Bridge Builder Blog exists for people who want to follow Christ without abandoning their honesty. Some arrive with deep convictions. Some arrive carrying disappointment. Some are drawn to ancient Christian mysticism; others are trying to understand what remains after deconstruction. There is room here to begin a thoughtful conversation.
I am interested in the questions we have learned to avoid. What have we inherited without examining? Where has religious certainty become a substitute for compassion? How does an idea about God become a way of living with other people? These questions deserve care, evidence, and the humility to include ourselves in the examination.
Experience, study, and the unfinished work
My background includes service in the Marine Corps, pastoral work, counseling, writing, and music. I am also a drummer, with a love for music that has an edge and something to say. My work in finance and business consulting has given me another place to wrestle with responsibility, service, and the choices we make in ordinary life. My education includes a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s in pastoral counseling. These experiences shape the conversation I bring, while leaving plenty for me to learn.
I write at the meeting place of Christian conviction, contemporary questions, and ancient practices of prayer and communion. In Reconstructing Christ, that means examining inherited faith and returning to its mystical depth. Imagine Reimagined brings contemporary music into a conversation about hope and peace. Come to the Table asks how spiritual hunger becomes participation in God’s presence and a life of hospitality.
A pastoral edge
I want the language here to have enough edge to interrupt a comfortable assumption, and enough compassion to care for the person who holds it. We can disagree plainly. We can challenge manipulation and shallow answers. We can also describe another person’s view fairly and admit when our own interpretation needs work.
The music carries that same invitation through story and sound. ALTER’s songs make room for struggle, sacrifice, and hope. Lyric videos let you meet the story on its own terms, with reflections nearby when you want to explore further.
The measure is love
A thoughtful faith should become visible in patience, courage, hospitality, and a willingness to repair harm. That is the work I hope this library supports: pursuing truth and sharing it in love. Bring your mind. Bring your heart. Bring your questions.
