Could You Be
a Chaplain?
Some rooms don’t need a louder voice. They need a steady presence. If you feel drawn to sit with people when life gets hard, chaplaincy may be a calling worth exploring.
A willing heart matters. So do preparation, humility and knowing your limits. Explore Ignite’s pathway toward chaplaincy service—then ask what training and recognition your intended setting requires.

THE PUBLISHED PATHWAY / IGNITE MINISTRIES
A real starting point.
Not a shortcut around preparation.
Ignite lists the third Thursday, 7–9 p.m. Its page names a February 19, 2026 start, not a new upcoming intake. Ask Pastor Bobby Everhart about the next opening, fees and entry requirements before making plans.

THE QUESTION ISN’T “AM I IMPRESSIVE?”
Can I show up,
listen and keep learning?
You do not have to arrive with every answer. But caring for people is not a license to improvise beyond your preparation. A meaningful first conversation can start with your calling, your availability and the kind of service you hope to offer.
Questions worth bringing
- What does the training cover, and who is it designed for?
- What are the costs, attendance and completion requirements?
- What supervision or further preparation would my intended role need?
- Who recognizes the credential in the place I hope to serve?
Volunteer service and paid vocational roles can have different requirements. This is an invitation to explore—not a job listing.
What the training is meant to prepare you for
Ignite describes instruction in compassionate care, chaplain responsibilities, wise use of Scripture, and character and accountability. The program addresses crisis and everyday situations. It welcomes people exploring pastoral care, ministry leaders, volunteers and those seeking formal preparation.
Ask Ignite about current enrollment, requirements, and what its credential means for the setting where you hope to serve. You can also ask about possible introductions and volunteer or vocational paths. Individual organizations set their own requirements; certification does not guarantee a paid role or placement.
TIME. TREASURE. TALENT. / IGNITE MINISTRIES
Good intentions?
Here is a place to put them.
We do not all bring the same gifts. That is not a problem; it is how the work gets done. Start with the organization’s current needs, then offer what fits.
Offer time
Explore Ignite’s outreach and chaplaincy pathways. Ask about current opportunities, preparation, screening, and the time a role requires.
Explore the official opportunities →Offer talent
Teaching, listening, organizing, and other skills can be starting points for a conversation. Ignite confirms the role, training, and suitability; interest alone does not establish a placement.
Offer treasure
Read Ignite Ministries’s own giving information and decide whether to contribute. Gifts go directly through its official destination, not through Bridge Builder.
