Watchers

Press play and stay awhile. The lyrics and the heart of the song are right here with you.

About the song

Ancient shadows meet a very human longing: to know more, hold more, and reach beyond our limits.

Teaching men the blade, the crown, the chain
Turning dust to blood and blood to reign

From Watchers

Let the music meet you where you are. Stay with the words that touch something tender, and give the story time to unfold.

Complete lyrics

Intro / Chant
From the mountain, they descended
Fire in their eyes
Steel beneath the heavens
War beneath the skies

Verse 1
They came down from the throne of night
With forbidden flame and angel light
Teaching men the blade, the crown, the chain
Turning dust to blood and blood to reign

The earth cried out beneath their sin
Giants rose from the war within
Heaven watched as the shadows spread
The living marched among the dead

Pre-Chorus
But we are not the sons of fear
We are the line that still stands here
With iron hearts and hands of stone
We fight the dark, but not alone

Chorus
Rise!
Sons of thunder, break the sky
March through fire, do or die
Against the giants, against the night
We are the sword, we are the light

Stand!
When the heavens shake above
We are forged by blood and love
No retreat and no surrender
We are war against the Watchers

Verse 2
They whispered secrets into kings
Poisoned thrones and broken wings
Gold and lust and sharpened lies
A world enslaved by ancient pride

But somewhere deep beneath the ash
A holy fire begins to flash
Not for conquest, not for fame
But to defend the sacred name

Pre-Chorus
So beat the drums and sound the horn
We were not made to die unborn
We were not made to kneel to shame
We bear the mark, we bear the flame

Chorus
Rise!
Sons of thunder, break the sky
March through fire, do or die
Against the giants, against the night
We are the sword, we are the light

Stand!
When the heavens shake above
We are forged by blood and love
No retreat and no surrender
We are war against the Watchers

Bridge
Azazel taught the blade
And men forgot their souls
Shemyaza broke the veil
And darkness took control

But chains are waiting
Deep below
For every throne
That wars with God

Breakdown
Bind them!
Bury them!
Cast them beneath the stone!

Strike them!
Silence them!
We do not fight alone!

Giants fall!
Kingdoms burn!
Ashes cry!
The brave return!

Final Chorus
Rise!
Sons of thunder, break the sky
March through fire, do or die
Against the giants, against the night
We are the sword, we are the light

Stand!
When the heavens shake above
We are forged by blood and love
No retreat and no surrender
We are war against the Watchers

Outro / Chant
From the dust, we rise
Through the flame, we stand
Against the ancient darkness
With heaven in our hands

We are war.
We are fire.
We are not afraid.

The heart of the song

There is a kind of wonder that draws us toward what we do not yet understand. There is also the temptation to reach for power before we have learned what it will ask of us. “Watchers” brings those longings into a dark, ancient landscape.

Its giants, forbidden instruction, and gathering consequences give the story a weight that reaches beyond its setting. Beneath the strange images is a human ache: wanting more, and discovering that more can carry a cost.

An old story with a shadow

Genesis 6:1–4 offers a brief and difficult passage about the sons of God, the daughters of humanity, and the Nephilim. The fuller story of Watchers and forbidden teaching belongs to 1 Enoch, which is received differently across Christian traditions. Keeping those texts distinct lets us hear the song’s imagery with care.

The music draws from that ancient world. We can enter the story without pretending that every detail comes from Genesis or that every believer reads these writings in the same way.

When the gift outruns the heart

The troubling image is knowledge arriving without the wisdom to carry it well. The song allows power to become something more than an impressive possession; it becomes a responsibility with lives caught beneath it.

That is where this ancient story can come close to our own. A word, a skill, influence over another person—these may be ordinary things in our hands, yet they still touch someone else’s life. A Christian listener may hear an invitation to bring those gifts before God with humility.

Wonder with an open hand

“Watchers” does not need to become a verdict on learning or curiosity. Its darker images can give us room to linger over what we desire and how we hope to use it. The story is worth hearing before it is reduced to a lesson.

Let the music draw you in, then return to the words and their sources. May our desire to understand be accompanied by care for the people our choices reach. There is room for wonder, and room to grow gentler with what we have been given.
